Mrs. Kathy Shelton Beach, 57, of Connelly Springs, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at her residence, after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Beach was born June 7, 1964, in Madison County, a daughter of Bernice Cutshall Chapman and the late Clinton Shelton.

Kathy was employed for 27 years as a supervisor with Gerresheimer Glass Co. She enjoyed working outside in her garden, fishing and watching the Dallas Cowboys football team.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Savannah Welborn; and a grandson, Andrew Benfield.

Surviving are her mother, Bernice Chapman of Marshall; a daughter, Amanda Welborn of Conover; a stepson, Jonathan Welborn of Morganton; a brother, Clinton Shelton of Marshall; and two sisters, Madonna Humphries (Ric) of Connelly Springs and Neta Harrison of Morganton. Also surviving are two grandsons, Xavier Avery Jr. and Travis Benfield Jr.

A funeral service for Kathy Shelton Beach will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, July 15, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with the Rev. Wade Rice officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.

Memorials may be made to Amorem Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.

So sorry for the loss you all are feeling. Kathy was a great person and one of the best neighbors I have ever had. I remember us as teenagers when they all lived in the Fishers rental house. I'm praying for comfort for the family and friends. Once again, I'm sorry for your loss.

She was blessed to have a sister as a nurse to help care for her when she needed you in the past year of her illness.
