Beloved wife and mother, Kathy H. Grooms, 74, of Morganton, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022.
Born in Haywood County, May 11, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John William Haney Jr. and Edna Mae Rickman Haney. Kathy was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was a social worker supervisor and retired from Burke County DSS after 11 years of service.
Kathy enjoyed painting, picture puzzles, traveling, and camping. She and her husband had a passion for genealogy, including co-authoring a book, Family Traces, which can be viewed at the Burke County Public Library.
Mrs. Grooms is survived by her husband, David Grooms; son, Travis Grooms; daughter, Misty Grooms; and brother, James Haney of Clyde.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Haney.
Services for Kathy will be private.
