Keith Edwards

Mr. Keith Esco Edwards, 73, of Icard, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at his residence after a period of declining health. Mr. Edwards was born on Dec. 2, 1934 in Burke County to the late R.E. Edwards and Ruby Brendle Edwards. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired police officer with the town of Granite Falls. He is survived by his wife, Sue Teague Edwards of the home; one daughter, Tonya Smith of Lenoir; one granddaughter, Holly Miller of Rhodhiss; one brother, Joel Edwards of Hickory; and four sisters, Sandra Preswood of Newton, Janice Cooper of Icard, Kay Hildebran of Hickory and Carolyn Pyatte of Icard. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Revs. Jerry Lingerfelt and Bill Shuffler officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
