Keith Edwards Obituary

Mr. Keith Esco Edwards, 73, of Icard, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at his residence after a period of declining health. Mr. Edwards was born on Dec. 2, 1934 in Burke County to the late R.E. Edwards and Ruby Brendle Edwards. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired police officer with the town of Granite Falls. He is survived by his wife, Sue Teague Edwards of the home; one daughter, Tonya Smith of Lenoir; one granddaughter, Holly Miller of Rhodhiss; one brother, Joel Edwards of Hickory; and four sisters, Sandra Preswood of Newton, Janice Cooper of Icard, Kay Hildebran of Hickory and Carolyn Pyatte of Icard. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with the Revs. Jerry Lingerfelt and Bill Shuffler officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. Memorial contributions may be made to Catawba Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658. Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese is serving the family. I wish to express my heartfelt sympathy in your time of great sorrow. Only those who have lost a loved one can know the depth of your feelings. I have experienced the death of my parents, a child and my grandparents. I know how difficult these times can be for those left behind.
