Loy Lawrence Norman, 95, of Valdese, passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at College Pines Nursing Center, following a period of declining health.
Loy was born July 28, 1927, in Cleveland County, to the late Lawrence L. Norman and Lola V. Ledford Norman.
He was a member of the Caser Masonic Lodge #579 and the American Legion Post 234. Loy was an Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He loved to hunt and garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Dean Botts Norman; sister, Selma Baker; and brothers, Emitt Norman, Carl Norman, and Amos Norman.
Those left to cherish his memory include his niece and caregiver, Brenda Norman Foss; family friend, Becky Shufford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with the Rev. Edward Denton officiating. The body will lie in state at Heritage Funeral Service, Tuesday, Nov. 8, an hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 800-805-5856.
