Mina Brooks MORGANTON Mina Jo Brooks, 82, of Morganton, died Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Burke Palliative Care Center in Valdese. Born in Atoka County, Okla. on Aug. 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Cecil B. Hacker and Leach C. Ward Hacker. She was a past employee of the N.C. School for the Deaf and Western Carolina Center. Mina Jo is survived by her husband, Joseph Carl Brooks of the home and a sister, Caroline H. Trickett of Okla. A celebration of Mina Jo's life will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday June 6, 2011 at the Chapel of the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Lineberger officiating.
