Ruby Jamison Obituary

Ruby Seitz Jamison, 95, of Hickory, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2007, at Frye Regional Medical Center. She was born on April 3, 1912, in Catawba County to the late Alben and Katie Seitz. As a young woman she worked in the hosiery industry of Burke County. After her marriage and moving to Hickory, she managed the family business on Lake Hickory for more than 40 years while raising her family. She loved gardening, cooking, and the joy of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Janette Jamison and her husband, Hume Collins, of Hickory; a son, Forrest Robert "Bob" Jamison and wife, Anne, of Havelock; seven grandchildren, Mark Collins and his wife, Karen, of Greensboro, Kim Collins Mulcahy and her husband, Charles, of Wilmington, Leslie Collins of Wilmington, Chad Jamison of Cary, Lori Jamison Hall and her husband, Ray, of Raleigh, Robin Jamison Dumas and her husband, Jason, of Charlotte, Rebecca Jamison Herbert and her husband, Chris, of Charlotte; nine great-grandchildren, Stefani, Cameron "CJ" and Andrew Collins, Danielle, Kendra and Michelle Mulachy, Jackson and Savannah Dumas and Cameron Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest W. Jamison. There will be a graveside service held at 11 a.m. Monday at Catawba Memorial Park, Hickory, with the Rev. Dr. Michael L. Collins officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Janette and Hume Collins, 1384 21st Ave. NE, Hickory, NC 28601 immediately following the graveside service. Memorials may be made to: Valley Nursing Center Residence Council, 539 3rd St. SW, Taylorsville, NC 28681, Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658 or the charity of one's choice. Bass-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
