Susan Powell Ledford, 64, of Morganton, was welcomed into her heavenly home Tuesday, May 10, 2022, after a two-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Susan was born to Frances and Thomas Powell Oct. 31, 1957. She was a hilarious and beautiful daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend. Above all, she was an incredible mother and grandmother to her four daughters and four grandchildren, who affectionately know her as "Pudge."

She was a compassionate, silly, courageous woman who loved her family and friends fiercely. She overcame many painful struggles, with grace and determination, exhibiting resiliency, humility and strength. She was a true chocolate lover, prankster, storyteller, musician and singer.

Susan is survived by her precious and steadfast husband, Charles Joel Ledford; daughters, Abbigail Williams, Janie Ledford, Mary Webb, and Samantha Ledford. The girls' significant others, Andrew Williams, Phillip Fuentes, Vincent Webb Jr., and Grayson Joines, were well loved by Susan and made her very proud. She is also survived by her siblings, Thomas Powell Jr., Emory Powell, and Mary Kendrick, as well as their beloved spouses, children and grandchildren. Most importantly, Susan is survived by her precious grand-treasures, Frank Ledford-Garrison, Eleanor Williams, Maisie Williams, and Judah Webb, who she has loved unconditionally with her entire being.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances McCants Powell, her best friend and first love.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Friday, May 13, at Burkemont Baptist Church FLC Room 106.
