Wanda Sue Cook Hollifield

January 8, 1949 - August 3, 2021

Mrs. Wanda Sue Cook Hollifield, 72, of Morganton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021.

She was born Jan. 8, 1949, in Burke County, to the late Vernon Cook and Belle Carswell. Wanda worked for Burke County Public Schools as a teacher, until she retired. She was also a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Morganton.

Along with her parents, Vernon and Belle Cook, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Hollifield; son, William Chapman; and grandson, Ryan Chapman.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Clyde Cook, and A.V. Cook (Viola); sisters, Daisy Ollis (Doug) and Faye Swink (Johnny); granddaughter, Megan Chapman; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 9, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Morganton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
