Whitney Marie Cantrell Parks

May 22, 1994 - May 10, 2021

Whitney Marie Cantrell Parks, 26, a devoted Registered Nurse and Morganton native, passed away tragically Monday, May 10, 2021.

She was born May 22, 1994, to her parents Johnny and Margie Cantrell.

Whitney obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and worked as the Director of Nursing at Magnolia Lane Nursing Home for several years. She recently started a new nursing opportunity in Wilkesboro. Her profession enabled her to reach and touch the lives of many people within the community.

Whitney was a member of the United House of Prayer Church. She loved God and enjoyed making memories with her friends and family. Her kindness, fun personality, laughter, and infectious smile will be missed by all of her family, friends, and colleagues.

Whitney was a loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend who was adored by all. Preceding Whitney in her death were her beloved son, baby Kendrick; maternal grandmother and grandfather, Virgil and Pearl Mullins; paternal great-grandfather, the Rev. John Robert Cantrell; and paternal grandparents, Ruby (Cantrell) Hall and Robert Francis.

She is survived by her mother and father, Johnny and Margie Cantrell; great-grandmother, Evangelist Naomi Logan Cantrell; sisters, Johnesha Cantrell, Britney Cantrell (twin) and Mariah Cantrell; brother, Jordan Cantrell; niece, nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The funeral services will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 413 Bouchelle St. in Morganton Sunday, May 16, with Minister LaTrese Lyerly presiding. The family will begin receiving friends and family at 2 p.m., and the celebration of life will begin at 3 p.m.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that all attendees comply with the applicable North Carolina Executive Order and the suggested guidance released by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. Specifically, please do not attend the services if you or someone you have come in contact with has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 14 days. Additionally, please be advised that to ensure the safety of family members and friends, masks are mandatory for attendance. We want everyone to have an opportunity to engage in the celebration of our beloved Whitney's life; however, due to the ongoing pandemic, we must ensure that we are exercising the appropriate precautions.

Prayers and condolences for the Cantrell family. I had the pleasure to work with Whitney in Long Term Care. I was impressed with her experience and her nursing background; and her commitment to employees and patients; she was very supportive of trying to make things better.
She will be missed in this earthly world .
I pray for peace for her.

Deepest sympathies to family and friends of this extraordinary young lady. I thought the world of her and told everyone we hired at Magnolia Lane about her desire to succeed and all that she accomplished during the 9 years that I knew her. Sadness for her passing is enormous and genuinely felt by all who knew her. We are all praying for her family during this exceedingly difficult time.
