Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Marjorie (nee-White) daughters, Loretta (Dave) Rositano and Deanie (Frank) Shukait both of Lorain; sons, John (Lori) Born of Lorain and Doug (Linda) Born of Sheffield Lake; step-daughter, Regina Beall of Normantown, W. Va.; step-son, Rick Parsons of Normantown, W.Va.; grandchildren, Matthew, Erin, Lisa, Lynne, Rachel, Mark, Megan, Stephanie, Thomas and Hannah; step-grandchildren, Kourtney, Bradley and Jodie; great-grandson, Julian.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Ruth Born, sisters, Mary Ellen Murray and Irene Taylor and brothers, Robert and Ernest "Jack" Born.
The family will receive friends Thursday (today) 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church 38550 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria. Friends may also call Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor Darrell Myers will Officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria. 440-322-4626. Online condolences may be expressed at www.laubenthalmercado.com.

I always enjoyed my conversations w/Al. He was always so positive and nice. I never heard him so a bad word about anyone. He will definitely be missed at the AHRMA ISDTRR's.

ill never forget driving home from west virginia with him when he brought me and julian home when my mom was in the hospital. it was real quiet in the car, and pap born pulls out his harmonica and starts playing some songs. julian loved it, and still talks about it all the time. pap born even gave julian a set of harmonicas that he adores. thats one of my favorite memories of pap born. we will miss you.

Al will be missed by his huge family of motorcycle enthusiasts. A true kind and gentle Christian soul, his perpetual good humor was surpassed only by his humility...someone else had to tell me he was a former state champion and respected off-road rider. Blessings to the Born family. God speed, Al.
