Francis Bartek Obituary
AMHERST - Francis Andrew Bartek, MD, passed away in comfort and peace on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at New Life Hospice.
A dedicated physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he served the Lorain Community since 1974.
Dr. Bartek is survived by his wife Mary (nee Zaworski); children, Julia (Jeff) Sullivan, Catherine Woskobnick, Andrew (Teresa Sanchez), Catherine, Dominic, Gabriel, and Matthew; grandchildren, Jeff, Chaz and Jordan; brother, Joseph (Margaret) and their children; father and mother-in-law, Dr. Donald and Nancy Zaworski; aunt, Mary (Albert) Chesnavage; uncle, Andrew Sikorski; and a host of family members and friends. He joins his parents Peter and Frances Bartek.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst.
Our family ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice or Medical Missionary International.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center.

Not only a good friend but a great doctor. I will never forget how he would ask me continually in the parking lot of the Carek building when I was going to get pregnant so he could deliver my baby. Oh and my final response to him that I think even made him blush. I could not have asked for a better doctor to deliver our son and make sure we both made it through a very difficult pregnancy. Fran know you are in my thoughts and prayers often. Thank you for all the laughs we shared together. Prayers to the family that although it has been 10 years the loneliness of losing him never goes away.

So disturbed to find this out today. You will never find another Dr more dedicated to his patients and medicine. I have two children n several nieces n nephews because of this man and his wonderful skills and knowledge. My heart goes out to his family.

I am saddened to hear of Dr. Bartek passing.
I grafuated in 1974 and started work at St. Joseph hospital in Lorain in newborn nuesery then labor and delivery. He was the best Dr. there. young and big and commanding. i remember he had huge hands. to catch those babes as they came into the world. I thought he was the kindest smartest gentelest giant of a Dr. and respected his way with people including the staff. of which i was at the bottom of the rung being lowly nurses aid. but he treated all the same with respect and humor. I am deeply sad to hear he has passed i know he did great things going to other countries and helping others for free. Heaven just got a big new arrival and they r better for it.

It is so sad to hear of Dr. Bartek's passing. As others have said...he truly made me feel as if I was his only patient as I went through my pregancy and all the years I've been visiting him. I feel honored to have known him. I hope his family and friends find comfort in how many lives he has touched. As I read all of these messages, it is truly breathtaking.

U was not just a Dr u was. A friend u took care of me since I was 13. N u delivered my 2nd baby n 2006 n u always gave me good advice n u helped figure out my pelvic pain when i was younger God put u here on earth 2 work miracles u had a nickname 4 me u called me db n kido I'm so blessed 2 have a caring Dr n a good friend. I was so saddened by the passing of Dr Bartek. He delivered my grandchildren, my niece and nephews, as well being my doctor. I always felt so comfortable seeing him. I LOVED his many LOONEY TUNES TIES and his never ending ability to make me feel safe in his care. Like many who have responded here, Frank was not only my docotr since 1975, he was my friend, compassionate and funny, treating me like an intelligent woman, not an overgrown little girl. I trusted him with my life. He will be missed. He had so much to teach younger physicians.

It feels too soon, such a loss. He has been my grandmother's doctor, my mom's, mine.. a friend and colleague of friends of the family. He saw me through my pregnancy with my first daughter in 2006 and delivered my son in 2008. He was out on leave for this latest one this past spring and I was so worried for him and missed him being a part of the pregnancy. They did meet at my 6wk follow up when he had returned … I popped back to see him in his office with the little one. His greeting that day was, “So you two did it again.” Such a wit, such an intelligent and funny human being, and so remarkably kind. No one will fill those shoes. God bless you Francis.

My heart is so heavy in learning of the passing of one of the greatest person I have ever known. I went to see Dr. Bartek when I was a young woman and continued to see him for approximately 35 years. He was very caring and funny - I always looked forward to seeing his cool ties! In 2007 I remember him personally calling me at work to let me know what my test results were that required immediate surgery. He always had a kind word and I knew that I could ask him anything and he would have an answer. I send my deepest condolences to his family. Dr. Bartek was a great man who truly was dedicated and treated his patients with love and respect. I will miss him forever!

Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow,May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.
Dr. Bartek became by OB/GYN in March 1996 and I saw him regularly for over 10 years. He was such a compassionate & caring Dr. and really took care of me when I had problems in my pregnancy. He was surely loved and will be deeply missed!!!

My heart is so heavy at the news of Dr.B's passing. He was such a great Doctor. His sense of humor combined with his laid back non stress attitude always put you at ease. He showed care and compassion to each of his patients. He was the best doctor I ever had. He delivered my fist in 1981 and took care of my other two girls. Dr.B saved my life on two occasions both times I was in a Hospital under the care of other doctors and for other issue not related to OBGYN. If it wasn't for Doctor B intervening, I surly would have died. I thank GOD, the last visit I was able to thank him and let him know how grateful I was for the extra years he had given me with my family and friends. MY heart goes out to his wife, children, and family. You are in my families prayers. He was one of my Angels here on earth.

Rest well gentle soul. I will always remember him staying with me on his day off because I wanted him to deliver and no one else. I will also remember bringing him chocolate covered strawberries from farohs every month so that he would not be so angry when he found that I had gained to much weight. He will be truly missed

I will really miss Dr. Bartek. He was my Doctor for just a few years, but I will remember his warmth and kindness. He will be missed.

My first visit with Dr. Bartek was 36 yrs ago and my last visit was the week before Xmas. I had no insurance and Francis always made sure I was able to get what I needed. Dr. Bartek delivered 2 of my children and some of my Grand children. What a blessing he has been to his family and patients. Dr. Bartek was a gift for many of us. Prayers and strength to the Bartek family.

He was the best doctor that anyone could have asked for. Never a negative word to say about him. He will be missed terribly.
