As teachers in the Lorain Branch for over twenty years, I cherish the friendship and closeness we shared. Our family will never forget the moments spent with your family, especially during the Holidays. We will miss him dearly and will keep the entire Alessio family in our thoughts and prayers. Continue to hold fast as Bro Jim always reminded us from the day we first met him in 1963. Much love to you all. Frank & Rose Palacios & Family (Lorain, Ohio)

Precious man of God and a wonderful Uncle and Great Great Uncle to the Ken Surdock family. He loved the children and would always compete with the little guys in seeing who was the strongest. I will never be able to compete with him in the kitchen at home or at church. Such a hard worker. Aunt Betty, Aunt Vera, and all the cousins, we love you and keep you close to our hearts in prayer. We will miss Uncle Jim.

We offer our sincere sympathy to Sister Betty, her children and their families. Our memories of Brother Jim are warm and wonderful, as he was always generous with his time and attention to each person that he came in contact with. His sense of humor was unique and uplifting, and he took a genuine interest in what was going on in our lives as we would see him only occasionally. Even the last time we spoke to him in AZ, although he was beginning to fade a little, the sparkle in his eyes was still there. He will be missed here, but we can rest assured that he has a mansion on the other side. God bless you all.

"I remember Brother Jim as a wonderful good hearted and faithful Brother in the Church. We had wonderful times together traveling to New Jersey for conference. He was always there when you needed him a willing Servant of the Lord."

I loved Uncle Jim. He always had a witty response to the question, "How are you?" He was always giving out smiles, loaves of homemade bread, or egg cartons filled with figs. I cherish those car rides to SW area camp we took together a few years in a row. I remember the seat he always chose in the Mesa branch, right in front. I remember he and Aunt Betty were the last people to see Michael and me off before we moved from AZ to CA. Most of all, I remember his love for the Lord and the special interest he took in the young men, my husband included. Now he's with Jesus, a great victory.

I have wonderful memories of visits from Bro. Jim & family and when we spent countless weekends at their home in Lorain. Bro. Jim always took an interest in whatever was going on in your life & when he said, "I'll pray for you" you knew he meant it. My heart truly goes out to the Alessio family but he has been a good & faithful servant & has gone to be with so many that we love in the paradise of God. I'm very grateful for the opportunity of sharing a friendship in this life with Bro. Jim.

Brother Jim was loved and respected. His sense of humor was appreciated and his smile, infectious! He would always challenge my thoughts and comments, not to show me his intelligence, but to get me to expand my own knowledge, which needs to be expanded. I thank God for the times I had to work with him in The Church of Jesus Christ. I am sure I frustrated him at times, but I always felt loved by Brother Jim. Thanks to the family for sharing him, he will be missed! I pray God fills the massive void he leaves behind with all who knew and loved him.

I will remember Jim fondly. He was such a joy to be around and model gentleman for all that knew him.

May 28, 2013

My memory of Jim is a toss up between his fabulous home-made cookies or his "quick" step when he was on a mission to get a job done from Betty's "to do list." His smile was infectious and it won't be forgotten. A dear man is how I would describe the Jim Alessio I knew. My condolences to Betty, children, & grandchildren.
