Kenis Keathley Obituary

Kenis D. Keathley, 40, of Sullivan, died from an unexpected illness on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Mercy Regional Medical Center. Born June 4, 1981 in Lorain, he was the son of Sammy B. and Beverly (nee Bailey) Keathley. Kenis spent most of his life in Sullivan and was a 1999 graduate of Black River High School and the Medina County Career Center. Kenis was a manager at Worthington Industries where he worked for 21 years. He was a member and administrator with the Firewood Hoarders Club, an online forum dedicated to all things wood and chainsaws. He enjoyed participating in chainsaw races, volunteering to cut firewood for others, or just talking about wood and saws. Kenis was an avid collector, trader, and giver of flashlights, especially Olights, and knives and guns. He loved to take trips to Kentucky to go hunting and 4-wheeling. He was most at home when around others, sharing stories and making people laugh. Most of all Kenis loved his wife and children and cherished the time he spent with them. In a final act of compassion, Kenis was an organ donor. Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 16 years, Jennifer (nee Bryson) Keathley; his children, Logan and Mikayla Keathley; and his loving parents, Sammy and Beverly Keathley. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main, Wellington. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Huntington Township Cemetery. Pastor Willie Bias will officiate. A celebration of life will follow at the American Legion, 518 S. Main Street, Wellington. The family requests you come as you are in casual dress. In lieu of flowers donations in Kenis’ memory may be directed to LifeBanc, 4775 Richmond Road, Cleveland, OH 44128 or the United Way of Greater Lorain County, 642 Broadway, Lorain, OH 44052. I am so very sorry for the loss of you beloved son, husband and father. I worked with Kenis and Sammy years ago and knew them to be hard working, kind and considerate people. I know this is a tremendous sorrow for you all and I am so very sorry.

So sorry. So many will miss him and certainly I will. He was planning on coming here next month and I was really looking forward to that. I lost a good friend and a brother.

Peace be with you and your family. May God's healing presence be with you through the days ahead of you. May your memories of Kenis bring you laughter and at time, tears, but tears of gratitude for the time you shared with him.

I didn't "know" Kenis, but am a fellow member of FHC. He was a fount of knowledge and I enjoyed our virtual discussions. I know that other forum members thought highly of him as well. We were all deeply saddened by his sudden passage.

My deepest condolences to family and loved ones. I wish you peace during these dark times.
