Linda Diane Meade-Mortimer AMHERST — Linda Diane Meade-Mortimer, 63, of Amherst Township passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at her residence, following a brief illness. She was born in Lorain on April 24, 1949 and had lived in the Lorain area for most of her life. Linda did spend 5 years in Tampa Florida and worked at a variety of jobs including US Steel, The New York Times, and as a finish carpenter. She retired from US Steel in 2011. Linda loved reading voraciously, gardening, but most of all, spending time with her family. She had a special love for rose bushes Survivors include her loving husband of 17 years, Richard Mortimer Jr., son, John (Crystal) Meade of Elyria, two special grandsons, Johnny and Jacob, of Firelands Township, mother, Gloria Hall, step-father, Arnold Hall, both of Sheffield Township, brothers, Kenneth Meade of Milan and Kurt Meade of Lorain, sister, Carol Maddox of Huron, 4 step-children, 4 step-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Stumber Meade, brothers, Jeffrey and John Meade, and by her sister, Martha Mays. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at West Ridge Enterprise Baptist Church, Amherst. Arrangements are being handled by Wyers Funeral Chapel of Sheffield Township.
