Magdalene Gergely Obituary

Magdalene "Maggie" C. Gergely (nee: Venzel), 73 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a brief illness.
She was born November 23, 1942 in Lorain, Ohio . Maggie was raised in South Lorain, graduating from Lorain High School with the Class of 1961. She was a member of the Junior Gems in High School. In 1966, she moved to Amherst where she made her home for thirty-six years before moving to Vermilion in 2002.
Maggie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother
Maggie along with her husband started Kleen-Rite Carpet & Upholstery cleaning in 1972. In 1982 they purchased a commerical cleaning franchise called Maintenance King. The business has been located in Lorain for the last thirty-four years. Maggie was also CO-owner of The San Bay Co in Sandusky, and Dasco Paper in Ashtabula.
Maggie was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Amherst.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-one years John Gergely; her sons Michael John Gergely (Lori) of Vermilion, Kenneth Alan Gergely (Alison) of Roanoke, Virginia; her daughter Denise Marie DiLuciano of Amherst; and Maggie's grandchildren Sara, Matthew, Michael, Mark, Erica, Kevin and Nathan.
She was preceded in death by her parents John L. and Julia Venzel (nee: Szucs).
Friends may call Friday, October 14, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Peter United Church of Christ; 582 Church Street, Amherst, OH 44001.

John, it was a shock to learn of Maggie's death. She was one of my favorites and I didn't see her enough over the many years ago miles that separated us.I'll miss my cousin until I see her again.
