Nancy R. Yourkvitch

Lorain - Nancy R. (nee Linhart) Yourkvitch, 80, of Lorain, died Friday April 10, 2015, at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Nancy was born February 26, 1935, in Lorain, and was a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Nancy worked at Lorain Community Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 17 years retiring in 1990 where she was active in the LCH Follies.
She spoke before the state legislature in Columbus on behalf of nurses and the "Phasing out of the LPN's" and helped write the LPN's Bill of Rights. She was a member of the LCCUG, WW Group and Police/Fire Retirees.
Nancy enjoyed reading and was a frequent contributing writer to the Morning Journal's "Voice of the People" column for many years.
She enjoyed gathering information of her family tree for the Linhart, Teter, Eye and Yourkvitch families. She loved her family.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Michel) Yourkvitch Lausi of Columbia, S.C., Sandra (Bob) Yourkvitch Campo of Sycamore, Stanley (Karen) Yourkvitch of Amherst, Officer David (Sara) Yourkvitch of Columbus, Thom Yourke of California, Dennis Yourkvitch of Avon Lake, Michael (Julie) Yourkvitch of Jacksonville, Fla., Chief Petty Officer Richard (Amy) Yourkvitch of Hampton, Va., and Joseph Yourkvitch of Parma Heights; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Yourkvitch, in 1969; mother, J Gladys Street (nee Teter), in 1993; father, Boisy Linhart, in 1937; sister, Madalene Short (nee Linhart), in 1997; brother, Clarence "Sonny" Linhart, in 1997; and grandson, Todd Eric Yourkvitch, in 1978.
The family will receive friends Monday 2 to 4, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 am in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Mark Telepak, chaplain of Crossroads Hospice, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
