Norman Walter Schmotzer, 81 of Avon Lake, OH peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. He was born April 30, 1940 to parents Walter and Astrid (nee Anderson) Schmotzer in Cleveland, OH.Norman was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School where he played basketball and ran track. He then attended Dayton and earned his degree from Tri C. Norman worked in accounts receivable for American Greetings for 20 years. Then he became the owner of Schmotzer Orchard until 1995 and later retired from the Pro-Shop at Sweet Briar Golf Club. He enjoyed golf, bridge (and other tabletop games), reading, traveling, cruises and road trips. Norm was hilarious and loved to make people laugh.He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Carolyn (nee Halpin); loving children Steven (Ann), Kevin (Tracy), Michael (Katie) and Brian (Christine); cherished grandchildren Christopher, Wallace, Addison, Maren, Luke and Adam; dear sister Carolyn Mick (Thomas).He is preceded in death by his loving parents.Friends may call for a Mass on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Church 32946 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake, OH 44012. www.buschcares.com 440.933.3202
