Thomas Baker Obituary
SHEFFIELD LAKE - Thomas R. Baker, 74, of Sheffield Lake, OH. and formerly of Tekonsha, MI. passed away Tuesday February 22 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain after a brief illness. He was born April 1, 1936 in Marshall, MI. and moved to Sheffield Lake in 1960. Tom was employed as a truck driver for Jefferson Trucking Co. of Lorain from 1960 to 1968, Bieter Trucking and Lehman Cartage Inc. of North Ridgeville from 1968 until retirement. He also retired from Teamsters Local Union 571 in 1991.
Tom loved sports especially softball. He played both fast and slow pitch in Michigan and slow pitch in Ohio. Tom was also a little league baseball manager and belonged to bowling leagues in Lorain, North Ridgeville, Elyria and Sheffield Lake and also at the Aquamarine. He also enjoyed golf, fishing and traveling and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Marshall, MI. and Lorain #552. Tom loved and enjoyed being with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Jane F. (nee Diamond); his children Douglas (Linda) of Frisco, TX, Calvin (Susan) of Sheffield Village and Gary of Elyria; grandchildren, Heather Mattox, Kyle, Jeffrey, Kristin and Bradley Baker, Andrea Azok, Kevin and Anthony Turton; and 3 great-grandchildren; a sister Alice Stamp of Battle Creek, MI. and a former daughter-in-law Pamela of Lorain. Tom is preceded in death by his father Cecil and a brother Leroy.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. Friday February 25. Funeral service 10a.m. Saturday February 26 at the funeral home with Father Stephen Shield presiding. Entombment at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
