William D. Fleming

1949 - 2021

William “Bill” Dennis Fleming, 71 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 20, 2021, from his home, surrounded by his family.He was born September 22, 1949, in Neon, Kentucky. At the age of 18, Bill moved to Ohio and has made his home in Amherst for the past fifty years.He was employed as a C&C machinist at Parker-Hannifin Corporation in Avon Lake for forty-two years before retiring in 2011. Bill was a longtime member of New Beginnings Church in Amherst. He loved being a husband, father, and grandfather. He was a true family man who always put his family first and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson, and his dog Sparky, who was his constant companion. Bill loved all things auto and tinkering on cars. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and enjoyed watching them on TV. Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Donna “Susie” Sue Fleming (nee: Stevens); his children, Dreama Kay Sowders (Troy) and D’Ronda Fleming both of Amherst; his grandson, William “Billy” Conrad; his sister’s, Pamela Bowen (Roger), and Anna Hoskins (Bob) both of Pendleton, Indiana.He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Faye Kaelin; his nephews, Pallas Hall, Bobby Allen Hoskins, Brandon Hoskins and his infant niece, Crystal Michelle Anderson; and his parents, Pallas and Opal Fleming (nee: Potter).Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 8:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. Due to Covid-19, we are asking that people wear a mask and maintain social distances. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/ .
