Stockton, CA

Gregory Steve Harrison

Jan. 18, 1962 - Mar. 24, 2009

Gregory Steve Harrison passed away quietly on March 24, 2009, and is now at peace and pain-free. Greg was born on January 18, 1962, to Goldie and Eddie Harrison of Thornton, CA where he lived until moving to Stockton in 2008. Greg attended New Hope School in Thornton through the 8th grade and then graduated from Galt High School in Galt, CA.

Greg played Pop Warner football and was also on the varsity football team while attending high school. Greg was employed as a steel fabricator for many years until work related injuries forced him into early retirement. Greg enjoyed fishing and sports on T.V., but first and foremost, he loved his family and being with his children, who he was always so very, very proud of.

He is preceded in death by his beloved father, Eddie Harrison. He is survived by his beloved wife Rebecca; loving mother, Goldie; his four cherished and adored children, Matthew Elijah, Noah Gregory, Chandler Grey Harrison, and Melissa Lynn McGranahan; two brothers Lonnie Austin and Dennis Edward (Patty) Harrison; beloved mother-in-law, Pat (Rick) Ester; many loved and loving aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends too numerous to list.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m., at the Woodbridge Missionary Baptist Church, 673 E Woodbridge Rd., Woodbridge, CA 95258. www.abcfh.com.

Goldie, Lonnie, Dennis,Rebecca and children,
We pray for peace, strength and comfort for you all. Greg was a great cousin and nephew. He was taken too soon for us, but at the right time for Uncle Eddie and God. Uncle Eddie must need him by his side now. We know he is without pain and is walking with his dad and grandparents. We will see him soon when he stands in the light to take our hands. We love you all very much and please call upon us for anything you ever need.
All our love and prayers,
Gay and family

To all our friends and family,

Greg was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was kind, honest, hard working, generous and quite funny. He taught me how to throw a football when I was 12 years old, during a visit at my Aunt Jennie's house in Thornton, where I had come to spend some time during the summer with my cousin Julie. I immediately formed a crush, that clearly lasted nearly 35 years...as he was a very special man...and I am proud to have been chosen to be his wife and the mother of his children.

He had been through so very much as most of you know, he had 29 surgeries since 1996, only 9 of which occured after the brain aneurysm that he suffered on Aug. 24, 2007. We lost him 3 times then and he said God came to him along with his Grandpa Austin and Uncle Fred driving a Model A, and they told him it was not his time yet, that they'd come back for him when they were ready for him...I guess they needed "Catfish", their fishing buddy...and came to take him home.

The children and I will always be grateful for the years we shared as a family...we will cherish the many beautiful memories we created as we grew together throughout the years. We are grateful for the additional time we were gifted with him, but recognize the blessing that comes with his passing in the end of his pain and suffering.

Thank you all for your kind words, love and support...Greg loved you all, as do we...and we pray that you will cherish your memories of him as much as we will our own.

Thank you again.

With love always,

Rebecca, Matthew, Melissa, Noah, Chandler, Olivia and Elijah Harrison

(Gregie's wife, children and grandchildren.)
