Clara "Faye" Arck

1927 - 2014

FRONTENAC - Clara ""Faye"" Arck, 86, of Frontenac, Kan., died at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014, at the Golden Livingcenter of Pittsburg, Kan.
Mrs. Arck was born Sept. 27, 1927, at Cole Camp, Mo., the daughter of Waldo and Lila Marie McCartney Slapper. Faye was a homemaker and business owner who lived in the Arma area most of her life. She was raised in Leavenworth, Kan., and attended Leavenworth schools. She worked for Ft. Leavenworth before moving to Arma in 1951 and opened the Arck's Station and Grocery just north of Arma for 35 years. She moved to Frontenac in 1986. She married Jack Arck on Sept. 18, 1945, in Leavenworth, Kan. Mr. Arck preceded her in death in February 1996. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Pittsburg, SNPJ Lodge #225 at Arma and the American Legion Auxiliary in Frontenac. Survivors include a daughter, Lila (Bob) Forrest of Farlington; two sons, Danny (Vicki) Arck of Pittsburg, and Donnie Arck of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Betty Jeannin of Leavenworth, Dorothy Woods of Leavenworth, and Kathy Price of Leavenworth; two brothers, Billy Slapper and Larry Slapper, both of Leavenworth; seven grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother Lucy Mae Slapper; and husband.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, Kan. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Bedene Chapel. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E.
