David Jenkins Obituary
He was born July 17, 1947 in Weir, KS the son of Francis and Irene Jenkins. David grew up in Weir and was a 1965 graduate of Southeast High School in Cherokee.
David served his country 1966-1967 in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. While in active duty David served in the Philippines. Following the war David returned home and attended the Kansas State Teachers College (PSU) earning a degree in Psychology.
He worked as a social worker for the State of Kansas retiring at the age of 62.
David was an avid outdoorsman, was a member of the Cherokee Gun Club, the Weir American Legion Post 272. He had also served as Weir City Treasurer.
Survivors include his wife Becky of the home; a brother John Jenkins and wife Nan of Chicago, IL, brother Glen Jenkins of Palmdale, CA; sister Jane Pike and husband Tony of Holiday Island, AR; daughter Anna Nutt of Platte City, MO; son David M. Jenkins and wife Amy of Weir, step-son Brian Craddock and wife Cindy of Weir, step-daughter Michelle Tridle and husband Mike of Weir, Carol Russell and husband Josh of Coffeyville; grandchildren Alexandrea, Chandler, Jessie, Sailor, Tanner all of Weir, Lyric and Hendrix of Coffeyville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Beverly Jenkins.
Visitation services will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday January 9th 2014 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir. Condolences can be sent to www.bathnaylor.com Memorial contributions can be made to the Weir United Methodist Church or the Weir Civic Club. Memorials may be brought by or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 104 W. Main St. Weir, KS 66781.

The best Duck and Fajitas that I have ever eaten were made by David. I smile often thinking of the stories if him and coco out hunting. He was such a remarkable man and the love and happiness that was shared between Aunt Becky and David is something only found in Fairy Tales. You will be greatly missed David Jenkins! God must be short on angels in Heaven to need to take one from earth. Love and prayers to the family.

Have not seen David in several years, was always a pleasure when we did see each other. Remembering back to 1971 when we hired David as our first employee at Ace Forms. Always had a smile, and never let anything bother him. I am missing his friendly voice now, RIP David.
