Pittsburg - Joe W Mussa, age 83, passed away at 3:38 am, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg, KS.
Mr Mussa was born June 24, 1937 at his family home in Weir, KS. His parents were John and Ann (Dixon) Mussa. He was a lifetime resident of Cherokee County, KS.
He attended elementary school at Scammon, KS and graduated from Columbus (KS) High School with the class of 1955. Farming was his occupation and his favorite pastime. He was also a Pioneer Seed Representative for 44 years.
He attended Scammon Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Farmer's Cooperative Association, Columbus Kansas and Farm Bureau where he had served both organizations several years as a board member. He was known for making No-Bake Cookies which were affectionately nicknamed "Joe"-Bakes."
Joe was married to Alice Faye Smith on December 28, 1963 in Columbus, KS. She survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Bill Mussa (wife, Robin), Scammon, KS; and two granddaughters, Kiley Ann Mussa and Kaley Jo Mussa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Mussa Jr.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 Monday, December 14, 2020 at Park Cemetery, Columbus, KS.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS. Those attending are asked to observe COVID-19 restrictions by wearing masks and social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Scammon Presbyterian Church in care of the funeral home.
