Joe Peel Obituary
Mr. Peel was born on November 12, 1928 in Erie, Kansas, the only son of the late George Franklin Peel and Fern Corrine (Pugh) Peel.
He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Bromich), father of William Henry Peel (Melanie), and Barbara Ann Pletsch (Joseph); and grandfather of Megan Barag (Aaron), Emily Peel, Kyle Pletsch and Jacob Pletsch.
He grew up in Pittsburg, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg in 1950. After serving in the Marines, Mr. Peel worked for the Kansas Highway Patrol and began law school at Washburn University of Topeka, graduating in 1955. Mr. Peel worked for the Kansas Insurance Department, and then the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA) in their Chicago office.
He was Vice President and General Counsel of the HIAA during a distinguished 32 year career.
Mr. Peel enjoyed playing golf, travelling extensively with his wife and doting on his grandchildren. Mr. Peel was a resident of Lexington Square of Lombard, Illinois.
A memorial service for Mr. Peel will be held at Lexington Square on Sunday, June 25 at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery at 4700 West 17 th Street in Topeka, Kansas on Saturday, July 22 at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations go to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org, in honor of Mary Ann Peel.

Barb and Bill and families, I loved your Dad and enjoyed every day I worked for him. He made everything and everyone better because of his personal values and belief in the goodness of people. Love was more than a word or emotion to your dad - it was his way of life. Ann and I will forever recall the great times we shared with your Dad and Mom. Blessing to all of you.
