Died: June 12, 2021 in Marseilles, IL
Carol Ann Enger, 78, of Diamond, formerly of Morris, passed away June 12, 2021, in the Aperion Care Home in Marseilles.
Born on June 3, 1943, in Yorkville, Illinois, Carol grew up and attended schools in Yorkville. She moved to Morris in the 1960s, where she worked in a dress shop in downtown Morris. She met her husband, Reid Enger, and they were married in 1964 and had 3 children, Kimberly Wyatt, Erik Enger, and Jodi Marquith. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years until she and her husband, Reid, purchased Enger's Smoke Shop in 1982. Carol was the smile that greeted you at the Smoke Shop to brighten your day. Nothing made her happier than helping people and she never met a stranger. After Carol and Reid sold Enger's Smoke Shop in 1997, she began working for AAA Services out of Morris and managed the cafeterias at the various nuclear power plants in the area. There was not anything she couldn't cook. After Carol left AAA, she was asked to take a friend to the airport thus beginning her business taking people to the airport ever since. She loved her clients, chatting with them and getting to know their families and interests. She lived for personal interaction with everyone.
As much as she loved her work, she loved her family even more. She was blessed with a loving husband, Reid, of 57 years, and three children Kim, Erik and Jodi. She was the best mom anyone could ask for and always made everyone feel welcome and loved to entertain. She was always involved in her kid's school activities and carting them from one sport to another while never missing a beat.
She is survived by her husband Reid Enger formerly of Morris now Diamond, IL, her daughter Kimberly Wyatt of Diamond, IL and daughter Jodi (Jason) Marquith of Leesburg, VA and 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother Selma Peterson (The Kringla Lady) of Morris, her sister and brother-in-law Sharon (Jack) Haymond of Cincinnati, OH, brother Keith Peterson of San Antonio, TX, and her loving son, Erik Enger of Downers Grove, IL.
