Richard J. Styner Born: Oct. 5, 1950; Carthage, MO Died: Jan. 9, 2014; Morris, IL Richard J. Styner, age 63, passed away peacefully at Morris Hospital on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Born October 5, 1950, in Carthage, Missouri, he was the son of Richard E. Styner and the late Fleta (Hodson) Styner. Educated in Morris, Richard graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1968. He was a Vietnam veteran, and worked for the State of Illinois as a maintenance worker with the Illinois Highway Department. A St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, Richard enjoyed watching sports in general, was an avid fan of bowling, and was a league bowler. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morris, and was a very dedicated Dad. Survived by his father; son, Jeremy (Ashley) Styner of Fairbury, Illinois; daughter, Michelle (Mike) Murphy of Morris; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Michaleen (Marvin) Braker of Roanoke, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his mother, and one brother, John Styner. Visitation for Richard will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, located at 301 W. Washington St., in Morris. A Celebration of Richard 's life will be held on Monday, January 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Morris, located at 1650 West Route 6, in Morris, with Pastor Steve Larson officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery with military honors provided by the Morris Color Guard. Memorials may be made in Richard 's name, to the First Baptist Church of Morris. Funeral services have been entrusted with U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, 301 W. Washington Street, Morris, Illinois.
