Thomas "Slick" F. Slattery, Jr., passed away on October 29, 2025, in Morris. Born on January 1, 1952, in Streator, Illinois, he was the son of the late Thomas Slattery, Sr and Barbara Slattery.
Tom was an alumnus of Kirkland High School. After graduation, he embarked on a career that saw him working for G.E. and the railroad, before finding his place at Northern Petroleum/LyondellBasell in Morris. He concluded his professional journey with Calpine in Morris.
In his personal life, Tom was a devoted family man. His marriage to Debra Sinnott blessed him with his son Josh. Later, Tom found love again and married Karen Sajnaj, and together they welcomed their son Nathan into the world. The bond between father and sons only grew stronger as they shared adventures in the great outdoors.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Karen and his sons, Josh (Meghan) Slattery and Nathan (Salwa) Slattery. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Kendall, Paige, and Lyla; Tom's siblings, Twila (Al) Payne, Vic Slattery, Ray (Nancy) Slattery, Kay (Dan) Hart, and Terry (Ron) Mundy-Coleman. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Slattery, Sr., and his brother, Robert Ledford.
An avid outdoorsman, Tom's favorite pastime was hunting in the wooded serenity of Wisconsin and fishing along the banks of the Kankakee River with his sons.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Tom's name to Lightways Hospice of Joliet or donor's choice.
A memorial service for Tom will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the UC Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris. Tom will be inurned at a later date privately with his family.
