Timothy L. Goodlet

Died: August 8, 2017; in Morris, IL

Timothy L. Goodlet, age 52, of Morris, formerly of Serena and Mazon, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at his home, following a 7 year battle with cancer.

Born June 27, 1965 in Morris, Timothy Lee is the son of Lillian (nee Binion) and the late Morse Goodlet. He was raised and educated in Morris, and graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1983. Following high school, Tim served in the United States Navy, and started working in the early 80's for the Grundy County Speedway. He lived for Friday nights, working as a flag man for all four racing divisions that would take place that evening. Tim also worked the ASA Late Model Series for three years and the UMARA Midget Car Races on Saturday nights. Besides working at the speedway, he worked for Greenway Automotive, Talty Chevrolet, Bailey's Carpet One Home & Floor, Lombardi Chevy-Buick, and the Morris Daily Herald as a delivery driver delivering all over Grundy County. Tim was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed watching NASCAR cheering on Mark Martin. He enjoyed spending his time outdoors fishing and camping.

Survivors include his mother, Lillian Goodlet of Bradley; his wife, Sandra (nee Parrish) Goodlet; six children, Brandy Goodlet, Haley Goodlet and Ashley Goodlet, all of Serena, Michael Enerson and Gary (Cassi) Enerson, both of Morris, and Rodney Stiltz of Flagstaff, Arizona; two granddaughters, Chloe Enerson and Alexandria Jones; several siblings, including, Patti (Chris) Matherly of Bradley and Terry Goodlet of Morris; special aunt and uncle, Evelyn (Clinton) Ryder of Goose Lake and Pat (Nancy) Binion of Yorkville; numerous nieces and nephews, including Christopher Matherly of Bradley; and dear cousin, Dennis Ryder of Morris.

Timothy was preceded in death by his father, Morse Goodlet; and two siblings, Carol Clark and Bob Goodlet.

Per Tim's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and the family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.

So sorry to hear this. I know Timmy when he is young and living on Gun Club Road in Morris and friends with Dickie Rowe and I am author of book, Fly The Flag by Edgewater Morsky.

I am very sorry for your loss. I got to know Tim very well working in the parts department at Lombardi's. He definitely was a one-of-a-kind. He had a heart of gold, and a laugh that was so contagious. Being a White Sox fan, I caught quite a bit of smack talk ( and gave it right back ), but I was glad the day they won the World Series for one person. I will always remember Tim.
