Daniel Jacob "Dan" Popp

1955 - 2026

Daniel Jacob Popp, 70, of Saint Cloud, MN, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Dan was born on November 5, 1955, in Little Falls, MN, to Joseph J. and Rosemary (Heurung) Popp. He grew up in Royalton, where he attended school and found his love for the outdoors. On February 21, 1976, he married the love of his life, Lori Ann Johannes. Together, they built a beautiful family and a life full of shared devotion, moving to Saint Cloud in 1984.

Dan worked as a bricklayer for over 40 years and was known for his craftsmanship and work ethic. He was also a dedicated entrepreneur who took pride in running one of the largest eBay fishing stores. He found the most joy in life's simple moments such as spending time at the family hunting shack, time spent on the boat or ice fishing, and family get-togethers. He loved sharing stories of secret lakes, his favorite childhood fishing hole, and the many sunnies and crappies he caught. In the summer, he especially enjoyed going to the ballpark with Lori to watch the St. Cloud Rox.

Dan's life was grounded in faith and his strong relationship with God. He led his family by setting a prime example of what a husband, father, and grandfather should be. He loved his family unconditionally and held a special soft spot for the babies in the family. Dan's strength and devotion were the foundation of his family, carrying them through all of life's challenges.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosemary Popp; his parents-in-law, Otto and Carol Johannes; his sister, Annette; an infant brother; and his loyal companions, Duke, Buddy and Buck.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Lori Popp; children, Christopher (Marie) Popp, Jessica Popp, Stephanie Anderson, and Clinton (Sara) Steingraber; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings, Jerry (Barb) Popp, Mary Popp, Barb Christianson, Patty (Gary) Miller, Mike (Bunny) Popp, Linda Justen, Brenda (Keith) Hackett, Judy Hackett, and David (Annette) Popp; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Bella and Blu.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 18, 2026, at 11:00 am at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Rice, MN, with lunch to follow. Visitation will precede starting at 10:00 am.
