Judy Monahan Obituary

Judy Deanna Miller (Michaelson) Monahan of Kansas City, MO, previously of Morrill, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the age of 84 surrounded by her children.

Judy was born in St. Cloud, MN on April 14, 1940, to Connie Scott and Archie Miller. She was raised by her grandparents Amy and Curtiss Carver. She attended St. Cloud Tech High School.

Judy was an adventurous mom of eight children and a mother to many foster children. She was a devoted grandmother to 26 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Judy was best known for raising her own food to her amazing cooking and her ability to build or fix anything.

Her children will best remember the "Michaelson Itchy Feet" when Judy woke her children in the middle of the night and said that it meant grab your shoes, we are off. They never knew where they were going or how long they would be gone. Her children had many adventures with her.

Mostly she was a child of God and raised her children with Christian values. She was a devoted Sister of the LDS Mormon Church. In her later years, she volunteered at the Temple in Kansas City, MO and had missionaries in her home for meals. It was well known that Sister Monahan had the best pies.

She had a gift for music. She sang in the church choir. She played the organ and the guitar. Her children will cherish all the music and singing she sang with them. Saturday night gatherings singing songs from the Sound of Music and Sunday mornings sing "Singing in the Kitchen" accompanied by her children playing the pots and pans with her homemade wooden spoons.

She is survived by her husband, David Monahan and her eight children, Tina Strait of Eden Prairie, MN, Michael (Rebecca) Michaelson of Longville, MN, Katherine (Jon) Johnson of Owatonna, MN, Curtiss (Cathy) Michaelson of Mondovi, WI, Georgia (Glenn) Holewa of Foley, MN, Sally (Scott) Kloss of Buckman, MN, Ky Mathew Michaelson of Faribault, MN, Angela Coggin of Kansas City, MO; her sisters, Maureen (Terry) Anderson and Nan Scott; and aunt, Dorthy.

She was preceded in death by her parents Connie Scott and Archie Miller, grandparents Amy and Curtiss Carver, her aunt Jean Ohmann, her sons-in-law Earl Strait and Timothy Fleck, and grandson David Michaelson.
