Marvin Weiss Obituary

Marvin "Marv" Weiss, aged 86, a beloved resident of Hillman, Minnesota, passed away on December 10, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Marvin on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service, located in Little Falls, Minnesota, with Father David Maciej officiating. The family invites friends to attend a visitation prior to the service, which will take place from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Following the memorial service, Marvin will be interred at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, north of Little Falls, where military honors will be conducted by the Hillman American Legion and the Memorial Rifle Squad at 2:00 P.M.

Marvin Peter Weiss was born on May 9, 1939, in Pierz, Minnesota, to the late Michael and Florence (Hoffman) Weiss. He grew up alongside his four siblings: Virgil, Marlene, Jerry and David. Marvin graduated from Pierz High School as a member of the Class of 1957. He honorably served in the United States Army from September 9, 1959, until his discharge on August 29, 1961. Marvin was a hard worker and ended his career as a retail manager at the VA Hospital in Mpls.

Marvin wed Lois Peterson in Comfrey, Minnesota and they have been married 59.8 years. Together, they raised a family in Cottage Grove, Minnesota and were blessed with three children: Jason, Jeffrey, and Angela.

After retiring, the couple made their home in the Hillman area on Hannah Lake, where they enjoyed the great outdoors and Marvin was able to enjoy his passion for gardening, ice fishing, reading, and traveling. Marvin was also actively involved in his community, lending his support to the Hillman American Legion Post, the 40/8, the Hillman Lions, and the Memorial Rifle Squad at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery.

He is survived by his loving wife Lois; his children, Jeffrey (Kirsten) Weiss of Shoreview, MN, Jason (Andrea) Weiss of Cape Elizabeth, ME, and Angela (Randy) Schlede of Rosemount, MN; his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, Elsa, Virginia, Luke, Vollie, and Abigail; his siblings, Marlene (David) Klein, Jerry (Kathy) Weiss, David Weiss; sister-in-law, Doris Weiss; in-laws, Jerry and Luella Peterson; and sister-in-law, Karen Blackstad. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Louis Marvin; his brother, Virgil Weiss; his father- and mother-in-law, Fredrick and Bernice Peterson; and his brother-in-law, Ernie Blackstad.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to his godchild, Kristi McGrath, for the compassionate care she provided during Marvin's illness.

Marvin's memory will be honored and cherished by his family and friends, and he will always remain in their hearts.
