Nick Lanners Obituary

Nicholas "Nick" Lanners, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 37 on May 29, 2025, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Nick was a vibrant soul who touched the lives of many with his big heart, determination, and unwavering support for those he loved.

Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, June 7 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, June 6 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at The Royalton High School Football Field, please enter from the North end of the school parking lot, and from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Saturday at the church in Buckman. He will be buried in the parish cemetery. If weather is inclement, the visitation will be moved to St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the children of Nick Lanners.

Born on July 18, 1987, to Ron and Sandy (Smieja) Lanners at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, Nick grew up in the Royalton area and graduated with the Class of 2006. He was a standout athlete who excelled in both football and wrestling, showing dedication and passion from an early age. After high school, Nick attended Alexandria Vocational School and graduated with an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement. He began his career in 2009 at the Rush City Correctional Facility, later becoming a lieutenant at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility. Nick was united in marriage to Heather Omann on June 6, 2015, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton. The couple welcomed two wonderful children, Grayson and Emery. Nick devoted much of his time to his family and found joy in coaching Grayson's travel baseball team during the summers and savoring precious moments with his little "Daddy's girl" Emery. Nick was passionate about sports and was involved in coaching the Royalton High School Football for 18 years, along with coaching son, Grayson in football and baseball. He also enjoyed the outdoors, and farming, where he raised beef cows and chickens. He treasured family trips to South Dakota, making memories that will last a lifetime. A natural leader, he was always ready to offer good advice and support to those around him. Nick's compassionate big heart extended beyond his family; he was a fervent advocate for organ donation, embodying the selfless act of giving the gift of life.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 10 years, Heather Lanners of Pierz; children, Grayson and Emery Lanners of Pierz; parents, Ron and Sandy (Smieja) Lanners of Buckman; siblings, Derek Lanners of Buckman, Chastity (Brittany) Lanners of Waite Park, Shawn (Stephanie) Lanners of Royalton, Zach (Kaylee) Lanners of Buckman and Josh (Lauren) Lanners of Buffalo; mother and father-in-law, Todd and Sue Omann of Pierz; grandparents, Diana Smieja of Royalton, Tom Omann of Rice and John Scheper of Royalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Brittany (Nate) Reif-Wennerof St. Paul, Zach Omann of Buckman, John (Cassie) Omann of Rice and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
