Richard "Butch" Blaisdell

Richard V. Blaisdell, 78-year-old resident of Brainerd, MN, formerly of Pierz, MN, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Care Free Assisted Living in Brainerd, MN.

A graveside service will be held in the spring. Caring for Richard and his family is the Shelley Funeral Chapel of Pierz, MN.

Richard "Butch" Victor Blaisdell was born July 14, 1945 in St. Cloud, MN to the late Marie and William Blaisdell. Butch was a longtime resident of Morrison County. Through the years he worked numerous places, including Ferche and Lande Packing. He also helped area farmers with a variety of jobs. Butch lived a simple life. He enjoyed driving around the countryside, checking crops and visiting family and friends. When he was unable to drive a car, he could be seen cruising around town on his scooter. He enjoyed listening to classic country music and keeping up to date with what was happening in the world. He loved to visit and laugh with people, especially his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by brothers, Jimmy Blaisdell (wife Linda), Donald Blaisdell (wife Terry); sisters, Barbara Funk, Birdie Kuschel (husband David), MaryJo Laurent, Margie Wolf (husband Chuck); sister-in-law, Toni Blaisdell and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by parents, Marie and William Blaisdell; brothers, William Blaisdell, Jerry Blaisdell and Edward Blaisdell; sister-in-law, Arlene Blaisdell; brother-in-law, Alvin Funk and Al Laurent; niece, Kimberly Blaisdell; nephews, Tommy Funk, Michael Blaisdell.
