Charles M. "Chuck" Hollingsworth, age 79, of Mount Gilead, passed away Monday morning, October 25, 2021, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
On April 25, 1942, Chuck was born in Galion, Ohio, a son of the late Charles Atwell and Effie Izetta (Edgington) Hollingsworth. He graduated from Johnsville High School in the Class of 1960.
A Vietnam Veteran, Chuck proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Chuck was an extremely hard worker throughout his life. As a kid, he helped on his parent's farm. He later took a job driving a milk truck and then drove a truck hauling asphalt and gravel. He spent time running overhead cranes at HPM and later became a mechanic at C&D Chevrolet. After learning the ropes there, he opened his own business, "Chuck's Equipment Repair," which he operated for over 40 years.
Chuck married Joyce Morris on June 22, 1963. They had three children together and later divorced. While having a meal at the County Girl in Mount Gilead, Chuck met a sweet waitress, Karen Ann Moore. They were married on July 9, 1984, and shared a special bond for 25 years before she preceded him in death on August 24, 2009. Having another chance at love, Chuck spent the last 10 years of his life with his cherished companion, Janice Chambers.
A Farmall guy through and through, Chuck loved his tractors. He had a sign that read "If it isn't red, leave it in the shed." His prized possession was his Farmall MTA V8. He enjoyed building lawn tractors, participating in tractor and truck pulls and was a long time member of the Morrow County Antique Tractor Assoc. When it came to cars, it was Chevy or nothing. It had to have a Chevy emblem on it to go in the garage. He drove and owned many fast cars and motorcycles over the years.
A great deal of Chuck's time was spent in his shop working on projects. If something needed fixed, he was the man for the job. There was nothing that he couldn't repair. He made bird feeders for just about everyone he knew. They were given freshly painted with a shepherd's hook to hang it on. While in his shop, country music was on the radio and he always sang along with the songs.
Chuck was an all-around good man. He had a caring heart and compassion for others. He would do anything to help anyone, whether he knew them or not. During the blizzard of 1978, Chuck helped to open up many roads and rode his snowmobile around getting food and milk to local families who needed it. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, always having a German Shepherd by his side.
When someone asked Chuck how he was doing, his response was "Better." His positive attitude came through every day. Nobody gave better bear hugs than Chuck and the little grin he had on his face was contagious. Most of the time, he had a toothpick in his mouth and a Coke in his hand.
Chuck will be dearly missed by his partner, Janice Chambers of Mount Gilead; his three children: Sundie (Phil) Brown of Galion, April (James Lavel) Morrissey of Cedar Grove, TN, June (Roger) Cooper of Iberia; two step-daughters: Debbie (Marie) Lower of Cincinnati, Michele Lower of Owensville, OH; nine grandchildren: Alycia (Jason) Palmer, Megan Brown, Breanna Morrissey, Braden Morrissey, Mikayla Morrissey, Joycieanna Cooper, Roger Cooper III, Curtis (Erin) Lower, Sonya Dulaney; two great grandchildren: Vance Palmer, Maebell Lily Callis; brother, George "Doug" Hollingsworth of Mount Gilead; and sister, Marilee McDougal of Galion.
In addition to his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Morrissey; siblings: Paul Hollingsworth, Natella (Herman) Lloyd, Roy (Nancy) Hollingsworth, Franklin Hollingsworth; sister-in-law, Carol Hollingsworth; and brother-in-law, Mearl McDougal.

Chuck will be missed. Being a lover of old tractors we had a immediate bond. Enjoyed many talks on old iron. I am a John Deere lover and Chuck a Farmall man gave us lots to talk about. Great mechanic and problem solver. Helped me out many times.
