Larry E. Thomas, age 71 of Cardington, died on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Morrow County Hospital. He was born on July 24, 1949 in Marion to the late Lloyd E. and Juanita J. (Sagar) Thomas.
Larry was a 1967 graduate of the Cardington-Lincoln High School. He went on to work as a carpenter and contractor for his father's company, Lloyd Thomas Construction until his retirement.
On September 21, 1969 in Cardington Larry married Dorothy K. (VanSickle) and she survives.
Larry enjoyed hunting and trapping and all things outdoors. You could find him outside most of the time either working in the garden or cutting down a tree. Larry also enjoyed farming in his earlier years. More recently though, Larry enjoyed watching sporting events: football, basketball, and baseball and especially the Ohio State Buckeyes. Larry was a simple man and enjoyed the little things in life.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, Larry is survived by 3 children: Kimberly (John) Hulslander of Columbus, Amanda (Chad) Holt of Cardington and Mike (Brigit Porteus) Thomas of Delaware; 3 siblings: Linda (Dean) Brown of Marion, Pamela Thomas-Groves of Westerville, and Dixie (Jeff) Biehl of Columbus and 6 grandchildren.
Friends may call on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. A graveside funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 PM in the Glendale Union Cemetery.

I grew up around the Lloyd and Juanita Thomas family and have wonderful memories of being a guest in their home and knowing their children. In 1983, Larry’s father, Lloyd, built our first home. Larry worked on our house and was a great guy to deal with. He was just a really good guy. My husband was surprised by the quality of work and thrilled with the outcome. I have always known Larry Thomas to be a quality person.
We are so sorry for the great loss for his wife, Dorothy, their children and grandchildren. We are holding the family up in prayer. We are sure the loss of such wonderful man is heartbreaking.
