MORROW COUNTY -- Malinda "Sue" (Goodman) Brown, age 65, born to Pat and Bill Goodman on November 10, 1957, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2023.
Sue went to Mount Gilead Schools until her senior year when she graduated from Highland High School in 1977 and lived most of her life in Morrow County.
Sue drove truck for Pony Express before starting work as a machine operator for Arundale in Mount Gilead, then later at Sun Ray in Delaware. Sue then met the love of her life, Steve Brown, while working in Centerburg. He asked her out every day until she said yes, and the rest is their love story, getting married on May 11, 1991.
After getting married, Sue became a stay-at-home mom to their three children. She never missed a function of her children or grandchildren. She attended every school event from 1990 – 2020. She was their biggest cheerleader and could always be heard before seen.
Sue never met a stranger. She was continuously ready for fun and would greet you with a smile and her happy feet. She had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help in any way she could. Sue loved summer and planning the family reunion each year. She looked forward to being with family and all of her cousins. Sue threw a huge bash every 4th of July and Halloween. You better come dressed up and smiling, or you weren't allowed in. She also enjoyed yearly trips to Purple Indian with childhood friends.
Sue was a lifelong bowler with a high score of 298. One of Sue's favorite activities was playing cards with her best bud, Paula Mangrum. She also "played the radio" and won a multitude of prizes over the years. People called her lucky, but she just said she was dedicated. As she got older, she enjoyed her flower gardens, plants, and watching her birds. In October of 2021 she and Steve were baptized at Vineyard Church Delaware County.
Left to cherish Sue's memory is her husband of 32 years, Steve; three children: Bridget (Micah) Baird, Stevie Brown, Brandon Brown; her #1 grandson, Colton Baird; her #1 granddaughter, Brooklyn Baird; father, Bill Goodman; a brother, Patrick "Rick" (Tammy) Goodman; great aunt, Millie Hines; and numerous nieces and nephews who referred to her as "The Warden."
Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Pat Goodman, and a son, L.J.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Sue's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Edison Enterprise Baptist Church, 3055 State Route 95, Edison, OH 43320, with Pastor Ed Colegrove officiating.
Sue was an 11-year survivor of a double lung transplant. In lieu of flowers, please say yes to organ and tissue donation in honor of Sue.
