Joyce Scheerschmidt

Joyce Scheerschmidt, loving wife of 56 years and devoted companion to Robert Scheerschmidt, died peacefully on Oct. 12, 2010, with her family by her side at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Va.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Robert of Boynton Beach, Fla. and Unionville, Va.; 102 year old mother, Dorothy Abbe of Sodus; sons, Gene and Larry; daughter-in-laws, Candyce and Shelley; and four beautiful grandchildren, Abbe, Gena, Tyler and Lexi, all of Virginia.
Bob and Joyce were both born and raised in the Rochester area.
Joyce was devoted to her family and brought joy to all who knew her.
A memorial service was held on October 23 at Johnson Funeral Home in Locust Grove, Va. The Rev. Jeffrey Smith officiated. A reception followed the service at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Unionville, Va. Inurnment will take place at a later date at South Florida National Cemetery, Lakeworth, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joyce may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Attention: Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148; or by calling 800-822-6344. Make check payable to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and be sure to provide the account number 26722226.
