Richard J. Russell PENN YAN - Retired Master Sgt. Richard J. Russell, age 79, passed away peacefully at home, after a long illness, on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Devereaux Russell; four children, Gordon Russell, Renee (Steve) Gentz, Derek Russell and Kevin (Christina) Russell; three step-children, Kerry (Chuck) Hoffman, Tom (Sara) Eskildsen and Kate (Matt) Nelson; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Sue Russell. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Russell. His memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 100 N. Main St., Canandaigua. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held on Monday, January 13, at 10 a.m. at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Route 96A, Romulus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 100 N. Main St., Canandaigua, NY 14424. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., Canandaigua. Deb, I was so sorry to hear of Dick's passing. I actually only met Dick several years ago when we used to work events together at the school. He was such a pleasant person to work and talk with! I really enjoyed the days we worked together.

I did not know he had taken Ill, I had not work a lot of events this past fall before heading south. I offer my sincere condolences to you and his family. Dick certainly falls under the category of "One of the good guys" on this earth!
