Although I was never close with Ryan, We did grow up together and graduate the same year. When I first heard the horrible news, my heart sank and I had a pit in my stomach. I can honestly say that Ryan was just a straight up- solid dude with an amazing sense of humor. I wish I would have been able to have gotten to know him better when I had the chance. A few months ago, I had ran into him & some other honeoye graduates during a night out and it was great to see how well Ryan was doing & how he had still had that charming charisma. ( & a jones for wearing hockey jerseys. haha. a random memory i have of ryan.)
My thoughts & prayers go out to Ryan's entire family and close friends. It definately opened my eyes to just how fragile life is. Tell the people in your life how much you love them & how important they are, cause in a split second... it can be over.
RIP Ryan J Helfer. You will be missed.

I am so saddened by this news. I had Ryan as a student and loved his energetic and outgoing personality. He brightened up the middle school and all those around him. I am praying for Ryan's family and hope that God will give them some comfort and peace at this terrible time.

Whats good ryan? I googled your name and found this. I LOVED YOU MAN,i thought for sure we woulda grew old together. Things are never gonna be the same EVER again. I'm gonna miss the hell outta you at Christmas this year, but remeber we ALWAYS had fun growing up! I LOVE YOU RYAN JAMES HELFER, You'll always be with me. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Ryan Helfer. I went to high school with Ryan. We shared a ton of laughs over the years, inside and out of school. He brought many cheers to the HCS soccer field. He was an amazing person, very kind, a great friend, extremely lovable and always knew how to make everyone laugh. I will never forget our summers spent on the lake fishing, our camping adventures, and all of the times we spent just hanging out. He will be missed by many, including myself.

He had many many friends and you were blessed to have such a wonderful young man as your own. He played soccer with Michael and was at my house all the time with the team. We are so sorry to have heard this news, especially at this time of year. We can only give our thoughts and prayers if nothing else, and hope that your family can hold onto to it for comfort. Please stay strong and remember that Ryan had so many friends, and that I myself will remember riding bikes, with him and Rachel and Jake Perucki during the summers in Canadice. Ryan was funny and gorgeous and loved to make people smile. I will always remember that.

We'll remember Ryan most as a dedicated member of the Honeoye Lake United Soccer Club. Ryan was a superb goalie. It was our pleasure to interact with Ryan for several years both on and off the field. Ryan was very respectful, easy to talk to, a genuine person, with a wonderful smile. Our condolences go out to his family.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news about Ryan. I have been employed at HCS in the secondary office for several years and had many opportunities to talk with Ryan when he visited the office. I will always remember him as a kind and friendly person. We shared lots of laughs together and it pains me to think he will not have the chance to find his place in the world. Having two daughters the same age as Ryan, I send my very deepest condolences. You are in my prayers and thoughts.
