Ben Mendez, a hardworking Dallas Cowboy loving man, gained his heavenly wings October 13th 2025. Ben was born on January 16th, 1959 in Lamesa Texas to Ludy Vina and Benito Sr. Mendez. He lived his life to the fullest loud and unapologetically. He had a big caring, loving, giving heart. Full of mischief and a prankster to boot.
Ben is survived by his first union with Irma Mendez Rodriguez and their children Jeremy Mendez and Jennifer Mendez Morin. His second union was with the late Patricia Ann Wilson and their surviving children Jesus Valverde, Vanessa Valverde and Benito Mendez III. 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Also left to cherish his memory is his mother Ludy Vina Mendez whom he loved and cherished dearly. As well as Brother John Mendez, and sisters Imelda Saldivar, Idalia Esparza, and baby sis Ludy Ibanez, and 8 nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his Brother Fernando Mendez and Father Benito Mendez Sr.
Ben will always be remembered for his love of music where he started his vinyl collection in the 70's listening to the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and Journey on his turn table wearing a muscle shirt and sporting long shaggy hair, his family that he loved to spend time with, always making sure you were fed and knew his door was always open to watch the game., and food. BBQing being his specialty. The pride he took in being a machinist for over 40 years shines through in his relationships built throughout his career. With over 20 years of service as a supervisor in assembly and testing and as a lead testing technician. He would say my measurements are always accurate to within the thickness of a sheet of paper with maximum pride and a huge smile.
The family would like to thank Lamesa Church of Christ for Hosting the Celebration of life service and the Trevino's and Iglesia's for hosting the repass following the service.
