Bennie Bledsoe Obituary

Bennie Louise Bledsoe
03/31/1944 - 07/08/2025
With love and remembrance, we celebrate the life of Bennie Louise Bledsoe, 81, of Midland, TX who passed away on July 8, 2025. Memorial service for Bennie will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Christ Church Anglican, 5501 N Midkiff Road, Midland, TX. A reception at the church will follow the service.
Bennie was born to Lt. Col. Ben Lamb Holliday and Margaret Faye Holliday on March 31st, 1944 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Bennie was a worshiper and served on the altar guild at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church and Christ Church Anglican in Midland for many years.
With her father, Ben Holliday, serving as a Lt. Col. in the Air Force, she experienced a diverse upbringing, residing in various locations from London, England, to Topeka, Kansas. She often shared fond memories and tales from her childhood in England, particularly recalling the time she saw Queen Elizabeth II.
Bennie began her career at a young age, serving for many years as a legal secretary in Plainview, TX, Austin, TX, and subsequently in Midland, TX.
Bennie was a true community champion, dedicating herself to volunteering at several local organizations. She was a board member at Hospice of Midland. Bennie served as a dedicated board member of High Sky Children's Ranch, and an active member of the Midland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, always contributing to improving patient care and supporting families and children in the Midland community.
Bennie married Harvey Pennell in 1966 and lived in Plainview TX. Heath, their only son, was born in 1967.
In June 1984, Bennie married Robert C. Bledsoe in Midland, TX, which expanded her family to include Bob's four children. Their home became the central gathering place for the new, larger family, especially during holidays, where they shared countless hours.
Bennie is survived by son Heath Pennell and his wife Allison of Greenville, SC and granddaughter Bryton of Lubbock and stepchildren Robert Bledsoe Jr. and his wife Christi of Trophy Club, TX; Beverly Haight and her husband Vick of Nampa, Idaho; Billy Bledsoe and his wife Barbara of Greenville, SC; and David Bledsoe and his wife Karissa of Midland, TX. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren (so far!).
Bennie was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Bledsoe; her parents, Ben and Faye Holliday; and her sisters, Norma Cormier and Sue Slatten.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Manor Park Vogel Unit for their compassionate care and ministry. They also wish to acknowledge the dedicated attention from Visiting Angels and the additional support provided by Hospice of Midland in Bennie's final moments. Above all, the family is profoundly grateful for the unwavering love and care bestowed by Maribel Morris, Bennie's longtime friend and caregiver.
