Betty Williams Obituary

Betty J. Williams, 84, of Midland, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 in Midland. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Resthaven Memorial Park. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Chapel in Midland, Texas. Betty was born on January 1, 1932 to Pete and Denzil Loomis in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She went to grade school in Lindsay, graduated high school in Liberal, Kansas, and attended college at East Central State in Ada, Oklahoma, where she met her future husband, Bill J. Williams. They married October 16, 1953. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to their three children, Kent, Brad, and Kim. The couple joined First Baptist Church of Midland in 1972 and remained faithful members for 44 years. She was a member of the James Department Sunday school class and was very active in church activities, including church building programs throughout the USA. Betty loved to spend time golfing and was a member of Green Tree Country Club Women's Golf Association for many years. Bill and Betty enjoyed traveling with their Motor Home Travel Club. She had a huge heart and donated 19 years to Meals on Wheels and was active in the Senior Citizen's Garage Sale. She never met a stranger and was always kind to everyone. She was an incredible wife, mother, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Her face would light up whenever she was around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty believed in living every day to its fullest and always put God and her family first. Spending time with her loved ones was extremely important to her and always attended the annual family reunion at Lake Texoma. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Betty is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill J. Williams; son, Kent Williams and wife Diane; son, Brad Williams and wife Vickie; daughter, Kim Morris, all of Midland; grandchildren, Leann Hayes and husband Zach, Lisa Sims, Miranda Williamson, Ali Williams, Dylan Williams, Colton Morris, Colby Morris, and Kasey Morris; four great-grandchildren; and by numerous friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Denzil Loomis; and brother, Ben Loomis. The family would like to extend their gratitude toward Suzette, Lucy, Maria, and Beverly at Comfort Keepers for their in-home care in the final months of life; Dr. P.K. Patel; the entire staff and nurses at Midland Memorial's Continued Care for their care in the final weeks of her life; and to David Johnson, Jana Boyd, and their friends at First Baptist Church for their many hospital visits. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
