Beverley Fields Obituary

Beverley Sue Stradley Fields, beloved Mother, Nana, Sister, Friend, stepped from this life into Heaven on January 19, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Beverley, known by many affectionately as Nana Bev, was born in Burkburnett, Texas, on April 19, 1938. Beverley spent most of her childhood in Texhoma, Texas where she graduated from Texhoma High in 1956. During her high school years, she met Sammy Fields and the two fell in love. Sammy went into The United States Army, and Beverley moved to Amarillo to attend business school; eventually moving to Midland. Beverley and Sam continued to write love letters and the love of dancing sealed the deal. In 1957 Beverley and Sammy married in New Mexico, while Sam was home on leave from the Army. Sam returned to Alaska where he was stationed, and Beverley was settled in Midland to wait for him to come home. She began her career at Midland National Bank, and continued to work for The Bank (as we grew to know it due to all the name changes) over the course of the next 53 years, ultimately retiring from Wells Fargo at age 70. Sam returned from Alaska and 2 children completed the family. They made their home on Kansas Street where many life-long friends were made. Church, bridge, back yard parties, raising kids consumed the years. Grandchildren began to arrive in 1986 and Nana and Granddad could not have been happier. In 1995, her beloved Sam passed away. Nana went into high gear to be Nana and Granddad both. She was delighted that she lived long enough to boast about having 4 Great Grandchildren. Nothing gave her more joy, than rocking one of her greats to sleep, and she swiftly earned the title of baby whisperer. During retirement when she wasn't being a Nana, Beverley enjoyed traveling, museums, going to estate sales and cooking for the masses; she was a one woman meals on wheels. Having lunch with her Wells Fargo family, and walking millions of miles at the mall with her dear friend, and walking partner, Lyn McEwen, constructed her days and gave her great pride that she could report record mileage on the daily. She continued to enjoy her grands and greats until illness set in and took away our feisty firecracker of a Nana. She will be sorely missed by all she touched, but know she is just the other side, fly swatter in hand in the event we need a gentle reminder. Beverley is survived by her two children, Sammy Fields Jr. and wife Lorri. Daughter Karin Fields Zaya, Grandchildren: Preston Zaya, Addison Zaya (Jonathan). Samantha Fields Durham (Joseph), Braxton and Grayson. Robert Fields (Sierra), Camdyn and Westyn. Sisters, Shirley Gist (Monty) of Midland, Tx. Janna Poland of Ft. Worth, Tx. Linda Boyd of King City, OR. and Brother Gordon Stradley of Everett WA, along with a host of nieces and nephews that adored Aunt Bev. She was preceded in death by her parents Faye and Claude Stradley, and her beloved husband Sammy Fields. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 31, 2022, at 3:00pm at Resthaven Memorial Park. We would like to express our gratitude to her caregivers, Lillian Short aka Livvie, who became her dear friend. Kristyn Salazar, Michelle Urias, and Kimberly Torrez who took loving care of our precious Nan. We would also ask for any remembrances or stories of our Nan be sent to [email protected]. When parting at family gatherings, Nana would say to each in turn Go With God.now it's our turn to say Go With God sweet Nan. Graveside service is under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel. Sammy and Karin, know your mom was the salt of the earth. Her smiling face and hugs always brightened my day whenever we ran into each other. She was a loyal co-worker at the bank for years and always a kind, caring and loving friend. I thank God I was fortunate to know her.
