Bruce Moran Fisher, 61 passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024. A celebration of Bruce's life will be on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at 801 Technology Drive, Midland, Texas.
Bruce was born on September 16, 1962 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Kenneth Moran Fisher and Patricia Louise Fisher.
Bruce's father was a surveyor and moved his family throughout Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma several times. Bruce was never at a loss for words even as a very young boy. Each time his family moved to a new neighborhood, Bruce would be out meeting every neighbor. Everyone knew Bruce. He was a happy little red-headed boy. He was also very smart and would tend to get into trouble in school as he would finish his work before everyone else and become bored. Teachers were always looking for extra work for him. As he reached his jr. high and high school years, he loved and tried every sport possible. His favorites were basketball, football and especially track and field. One of his greatest accomplishments was asking Jesus Christ into his life at the age of 11. He loved going to church with his mom, sister and brother several times a week. He loved singing in the youth choir and going to church camp each summer. After graduation he attended Midland College and Lubbock Christian University as well as excelling in art and drafting courses at Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Bruce loved Colorado and worked as a Mechanical, Civil, Pipeline and Architectural Draftsman. He even tried his hand as a ski chair lift operator in his spare time. His love of people and travel led him to Florida, Illinois and Texas with his skills in drafting and eventually as a surveyor. When he got a little bored with that, he thought Alaska sounded like a fun place to be, so he worked as a logger until he decided he should go back to surveying.
Bruce moved back to his roots of Midland, Texas in 2015. He loved helping his family in their businesses however he could and discovered his love of painting again. He spent many days painting, writing, reading and riding his bicycle and his dream motorcycle. Throughout Bruce's life he made friends wherever he went just as he did as a little boy. He enjoyed meeting people and could carry on a conversation with anyone about anything. He was a walking encyclopedia. He also loved his country and took it very seriously in how important it is to love our country and pray for its leaders. Bruce loved his family. He was so proud of his nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. They all knew that Uncle Bruce loved them and was proud of them. His mother's home always had fresh flowers from Bruce as he would always bring her a bouquet on a regular basis. He loved working in her yard and helping her with whatever she needed. Having Bruce as a brother meant you always had someone in your corner cheering you on. He was proud of his siblings. His son Collin, his wife and new baby were always on his mind. He was so very proud of his son and all that he has accomplished in his life.
Bruce is survived by his son, Collin Miller, (wife Vanessa Guerrero Lopez) grandson, Aiden, his mother, Patricia Louise Fisher, his sister Beverly Kay Dillow (husband, Jim Robert Dillow), his brother, Burt Alan Fisher (wife, Karen Fisher) his half-sister, Lou Ann Byrum, his half brothers, Charles Fisher (wife, Alice Fisher) and Berry Fisher, (wife, Robin Fisher), Bruce had numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Delta Strickland.
Bruce is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Moran Fisher, his grandparents, Hubert Alvin and Edna Earl Fisher and Martin Luther and Clara Marie Palmer.
The family would like to thank the paramedics and the police responders of Midland, Texas who were so very kind, respectful and caring while tending to Bruce.
Bruce had many organizations that he supported in the way of helping veterans, children and families in need. He had a big compassionate heart for others. He is known to help anyone at any time and loved giving gifts. He had a love for our country and was excited about our upcoming election. He had high hopes to see America Great Again!
The American Diabetes Association would be a wonderful place to contribute in Bruce's memory as he was diagnosed with Type 1 while in his mid-thirties.
