Cecil Smith Obituary

Cecil (Sonny) Smith Cecil "Sonny" Edwin Smith, age 95, of Midland, Texas passed away at his home on May 18, 2022, surrounded by his family. Sonny was born July 30,1925, to Les and Viola Smith in Comanche Oklahoma. He married Melba "Pal" Smith on June 24, 1944.They enjoyed square dancing, fishing and traveling to South Texas. They especially enjoyed time with their family. They were married 66 years until her death in 2010. He married Juanita O'Neil Faubian in September 2011. Sonny served in World War II and was honestly discharged from the U.S. Army. He was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and Cotton Flat Baptist Church in Midland. Sonny worked for Schlumberger for many years until his retirement. He is preceded in death by this wife Pal Smith, son Cecil L. Smith grandsons David W. Smith Jr. and Jarron Smith. Also, my his parents' brother, Alton Smith and sister Yvonne Strealy. Sonny is survived by his wife Nita Smith, sons David W. Smith (Kelly), Michael L. Smith (Jane Ann), sister Rita Hice. Grandchildren Kellie, Elizabeth, Ryan, Ethan, Grace and Derek. Great-grandchildren Ayana, Reyna, Holt, Fayth and Colt. Visitation will be Monday May 23, 2022 at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland. Graveside services will be at Fairlawn Cemetery arranged by Comanche Funeral Home in Comanche Oklahoma. The family would like to thank Hospice and Meals on Wheels for their love and care for their husband and father. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be directed to your favorite charity.
