Christopher Brooks Obituary

Christopher Paul Gomez Brooks
10/22/1975 - 10/30/2025
Christopher Paul Gomez Brooks – a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, and friend – passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025.
Born in Odessa, Texas on October 22, 1975 he was raised in towns like Carlsbad, New Mexico, and McCamey, Texas. During his younger years and high school, he was involved in anything and everything that could keep him active. He ran track, played football and basketball, but in June of 1990, his life truly began. It was on this day that he met the love of his life, Cynthia. The two were smitten from the beginning and no matter the time or circumstances they always found their way back to each other. They were always known as "Chris and Cynthia" to those around them.
In the thirty years they were together, they were blessed with three children, Ashlynn, Brayden, and Caelynn. The family of five spent their free time camping, mainly at sites around the state of Texas. They would laugh, fish, tube down rivers, and sit outside listening to cicadas and crickets. This was one of Chris's favorite pastimes, spending quality moments with his family. He also loved to "tinker" on garage projects with his son, Brayden, of which included trucks, cars, and anything he could get his hands on at the many estate sales he went to with his wife, Cynthia.
After moving to Midland, Texas, Chris found a passion for work in the chemical side of the oilfield business. He was determined to make a name for himself. He served many roles in the industry but his dedication, strong work ethic, and love for human connection through his business relationships drove him through his decades of time spent in the oil field. One of the greatest accomplishments in his career was the detail and precision he was able to put into his work for his customers.
Chris wore many titles in his life, but one of his favorites was the title of "Big Chris". Those that knew him as Big Chris were his great-nieces and nephews, Tripp Braun, Eleanor Braun, Theodore Braun, and Lilly Primera. Through countless ring pops, pretend games the kids would make him play in, and big hugs followed by scratchy beard filled kisses, it was clear that he held so much love for these kids, and they held so much love for him.
Though Chris leaves behind a huge hole in the hearts of those still Earth-side, we are comforted knowing all of the loved ones passed welcoming him in the afterlife. Those welcoming him with open arms include his Grandpa Pete, Tia Lorena, father-in-law Fred Frantz Jr., brothers-in-law Mike and John Frantz, as well as the dog he said he did not want, but would sneak potato chips and cheese when no one was looking, Diesel.
Family missing him on Earth include his wife - Cynthia Gomez-Brooks, children - Ashlynn Gomez-Brooks, Brayden Gomez-Brooks, and Caelynn Gomez-Brooks, his great-grandmother - who he adored and would see whenever he had the chance, Katy Gomez, parents - Peter and Emma Gomez, and Randy and Mandy Brooks, brother - Tim Brooks, and sisters - Shasta Gomez and Meisha Overby, as well as his brother-in-law - Patrick Overby, his in-laws, who Chris adored so much and viewed as his own, include mother-in-law - Linda Frantz, brother and sister-in-law - Dwayne and Tanya Frantz, his niece, who he loved like his own - Brittany Braun and her husband CJ Braun, other in-laws who will miss him include Casey and Lezlie Primera, and Logan Primera. He also had many tios, tias, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that he loved dearly and who will miss him terribly.
Per his wishes, there will not be a formal service. However, if you wish to honor him, you can make a donation to either the Midland Humane Coalition or the Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals.
Arrangements were under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com.
