Dorothy Teague Obituary

Dorothy Rudd Teague
12/02/1933 - 08/20/2023
Midland - Dorothy Teague, age 89, of Midland, Texas passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
Dorothy Jean Rudd was born December 2, 1933 in Krum, Texas to David M. Rudd and Sydda Chism Rudd. Although she was an only child she enjoyed a great number of cousins that she remains close to today. She had interesting jobs growing up: her parents ran the telephone exchange in Krum and part of her job as a child was to ride her bike delivering messages to citizens letting them know that they had a phone call and needed to come to the office to take the call. She made a nickel for each delivery.
She graduated as Salutatorian of Krum High School in 1951, where she played basketball and was involved in the Home Economics department.
Earning her B.A. in English from North Texas State University, Dorothy taught high school English in Freona, Texas, and Gainesville, Texas. In Gainesville, she met a young Geologist named Hugh Teague at a picnic and they were married in March 1959. After marriage, she stayed home to raise two girls, Carol Teague (Sparks) and Kathleen Teague (Carter). The family moved from Gainesville to Corpus Christi and Monahans, settling in Midland in 1966.
She had a rewarding second career as a Division Order analyst working in the land department for Glen Aaron and Associates, General Crude and finally retiring from Pogo Producing Company.
Dorothy loved to be a part of whatever her family was doing. She and Hugh were regulars at volleyball games, band concerts, choir performances, and softball games. She sewed outfits for her girls as they grew and loved to read. After her children were married, the couple bought a cabin on Lake Sweetwater and hosted many fun family gatherings, enjoying time with children and grandchildren. She loved videotaping all the kids' events.
After Hugh passed away, she moved to Manor Park with her cat, Miss Kitty. She was involved in the Book Club and took Spanish lessons.
She remained an advocate for her entire family, always cheering us on at whatever we did: volleyball, tennis, football, graduations, weddings, and the births of her precious grandchildren (Brianna, Wesley, Landan, and Haley) and great-grandchildren (Ginny, Arthur, Oliver and Woods).
Dorothy leaves a legacy of love, one that nurtured and supported us constantly, quietly and yet fiercely. We are so grateful for all that she taught us about hard work paying off and being the ultimate example of kindness and grace no matter the situation.
Richly blessed by her memory are her children: Carol Teague Sparks (David) and Kathleen Teague Carter (Michael) and grandchildren, Brianna Dory Palos (Adrian), Wesley Sparks, Landan Dory (Megan), and Haley Sparks (Matthew Bazeley).
A private graveside service celebrating Dorothy will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Hospice of Midland, 911 West Texas Avenue, Midland, Texas 79701.
