Glen Stallings Obituary

Glen Dale Stallings went to be with our Heavenly Father on December 1, 2014. He was born on March 11, 1936 in Ralls, Texas to parents Howard and Gertrude Stallings. Glen grew up in West Texas and joined the Navy in 1955. During his time in the Navy, he worked as an airplane mechanic. After his discharge in 1959, he returned to Midland and worked the oilfield mostly as a welder. Years later, he attended a technical college and learned the trade of machinist. Glen enjoyed his work and especially his friends there, instead of retiring; he continued working the last 20 years at Carter Tool. Glen loved music and could play several instruments, his favorite being the guitar. On weekends, he would travel to Bluegrass festivals and, at one time, had his own bluegrass band, The Wild Grass Band. One of his favorite hobbies was playing bingo with his friends. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lucille Marshall, and two grandchildren, Derick Lee and Melissa Streun. He is survived by daughter, Kathy Lee and husband Rick; daughter, Donna Streun and husband Jerry; and son, Rodney Stallings; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Fred Stallings of Grandbury, Leon Stallings of California, and Gary Stallings of Midland; and sisters, Marion McMillan of Midland and Gail Childress of Dallas. Reverend Dennis Reeves will officiate the funeral Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home & Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday December 4, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., also at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Funeral service is under the direction of Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home and Chapel. So sad to hear of Glen's passing. I worked with Glen at Testco many years ago. I remember he could fix anything. After I left there, I would run into Glen from time to time and he was always quick with a good joke or story. God bless his family during this sad time, and may you find comfort in knowing he now walks with Jesus.
