Joyce Schindler Obituary

Joyce Schindler, formerly of Midland, Texas gained her angel wings early Friday morning, January 11, 2019. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas. Joyce celebrated her 90th birthday on January 1, 2019 with her family by her side. Joyce moved to Midland as a young woman along with her best friend, Jo Bess, over 70 years ago, where she met and married the love of her life, Slim, and where they lived until his death in 2000. She remained there until her declining health, warranted her move to Fort Worth, where she could be closer to her family. Joyce worked for many years in the oil and gas industry, but was always just a phone call away when her family needed her. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Midland for over 40 years. Joyce was very proud of her family and dropped everything at a moment's notice when we needed her. She was a great source of strength and comfort for all, with her strong yet gentle and loving assurances that everything that everything would be OK, and her fierce undying love. She was the family "care giver" for over 50 years, so when she had to move to Fort Worth, she let her family care for her, even though it was difficult. She moved in 2010 and resided there with her niece until death. Joyce continued her "care giver" mode until her fall in November 2019 and from then on she depended on her family, mainly her 2 great nieces, Kourtney and Danielle. They were at her side and provided her care until her death. Joyce's fierce love for her family was ever present, and we will feel that loss forever. She will be missed greatly. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Slim, best friend Jo Bess Starnes, and a host of other family members and friends. She is survived by sister, Jean Dyer, niece, Lisa Sikes and by four great-great nephews, Kanton Tayte and Graham Parton, Dakota Sikes, and 1 great-great neice, Kammi Reidel and a multitude of friends. We love you and will see you again!

Love and sympathy to your family. I am Jo Bess Starnes, niece, Kerry Williams. My Uncle Dan, Jo Bess' husband, told me today of her passing. I remember Joyce well and how much she and Aunt Jo loved each other. Kerry

Joyce Schindler was the most elegant woman I have ever known. I worked with her at my first oil and gas job in Midland at Parker & Parsley. She was the epitome of the southern belle with her charm and soft spoken words. My deepest condolences to her family.

I first met Joyce when she would visit First Baptist Church Saginaw when she was in town visiting Jean and family. This was 45 years ago. I always remember her really long and bright fingernails. They made me smile because she always had them perfect! Joyce always too great care in her appearance. She would always say she was too blessed to be depressed when I would see her in her later years. Joyce would always ask about my son Jacob and my wife Debbie when we visited. Thank you to Jean and Lisa for doing so much for Joyce over the past 9 years. She was blessed to have loving care from family.
