Kenneth Michael "Mike" Whitley

Kenneth Michael "Mike" Whitley, 62, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Medical Center Hospital. Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are by Martinez Funeral Home. Mike was born in Odessa, Texas to Kenneth Webb Whitley and Faye Harris Whitley on September 25, 1951. He married Anne Crow on July 1, 1978, in Amarillo, Texas. He graduated from Odessa College. He was in law enforcement (Slaton PD, Lubbock SO, Odessa PD, Ector SO) for several years as well as worked in sales/safety in the oilfield. Mike loved his family, hunting, fishing, and guns. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth "Buzz" Whitley. Mike is survived by his wife, Anne Crow Whitley of Odessa; son, Shawn Whitley and fiancé, Jill Estep of College Station; daughter, Stephanie Whitley Newton; grandson, Taylor Newton of Midland; son, Shelby Whitley of Midland; brother, Pat Whitley of Odessa; mother, Faye Whitley of Lake Brownwood; as well as several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Midland Municipal Police Officers Association (MMPOA, P.O. Box 50111, Midland, Texas 79709) honoring Mike's years of law enforcement service.
